Moody Blues return to U.S. for winter dates
The Moody Blues will open their touring year with a stint of dates at a mix of theaters and casinos in California and Nevada.
The British classic-rock mainstays launch the outing in late January, and will make stops in nine markets over two weeks.
Core group-members Justin Hayward (guitar, vocals), John Lodge (guitar, vocals) and Graeme Edge (drums) will again tour without longtime Moodies flautist/vocalist Ray Thomas, who decided to stop traveling with the band in 2003.
The Moodies' latest release is 2003's "December," which is a mix of original and traditional Christmas songs.
The band's most recent non-seasonal studio album is 1999's "Strange Times," but it has filled in the gap since that release with live albums and repackaged material.
Last year, 31 top Nashville musicians--including Harley Allen, Alison Brown, Sam Bush, Alison Krauss, Tim O'Brien and John Randall--released "Moody Bluegrass," an album that features bluegrass versions of a dozen well-known Moody Blues songs dating from the late '60s through the '90s.
