Allman Brothers Band heads back to the Beacon
As has become the group's annual tradition, The Allman Brothers Band is set to return to New York City's Beacon Theatre in March for a multi-date residency.
The band has unveiled plans to play eight shows at the venue between March 10 and March 19. Tickets for all shows will hit the market on Friday (1/7).
Since the Allmans began their annual run at the Beacon in 1989, the classic southern rockers have sold out more than 150 nights at the venue, according to the band's publicist.
The group's current lineup features Gregg Allman (vocals and keyboards), Butch Trucks (drums and tympani), Jaimoe (drums), Warren Haynes (vocals, lead and slide guitar), Derek Trucks (slide and lead guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass) and Marc Quinones (congas and percussion). Longtime guitarist Dickey Betts parted ways with the group in 2000, citing "creative differences."
Last year, the track "Instrumental Illness," from 2003's "Hittin' the Note," earned the group a Grammy nomination. A live version of the same track, from 2003's "No Way Out," is vying for a Grammy in the same category this year.
The Allman Brothers Band released its self-titled debut album in 1969; 2003's "Hittin' the Note" marked the group's first new studio album in nine years.
