Collective Soul plots new round of U.S. shows
Collective Soul , which late last year launched its first new album since 2000 by hitting the U.S. club circuit, will soon return to the road.
The bulk of the upcoming club and theater shows take place in February, but scattered dates are set before and after the run. Details are shown in the itinerary below.
More shows are expected, as the group announced late last year that it planned to mount a "massive U.S. tour" in 2005.
In November, Collective Soul issued "Youth," its first new studio set since 2000's "Blender." The group's website is streaming four tracks from the new release, including the singles "Counting the Days" and "Better Now."
In a press release, frontman Ed Roland talked about the new album's title.
"Youth to me is a mindset, not a number," he said, adding that, in some ways, the group is starting over. "We've been doing this for 10 years and we've never felt more youthful and more ready to be in the position that we're in."
"Even the music represents that starting over to some degree," Roland's brother and group co-founder, Dean Roland, added. "We switched gears and went to more of our roots on the music level and production level. It does feel like a 10-year cycle, we were just starting out, playing similar venues and seeing people that we're seeing today. Yeah, it definitely feels like we are starting over on many levels, but starting over with a big head start."
Formed in 1994, Collective Soul's previous albums spawned the hits "December," "Shine," "The World I Know," "Gel," "Blame" and "Precious Declaration."
