Mudvayne to preview new material on club tour

Alt-metal quartet Mudvayne will road-test material from its next album during a winter swing on the U.S. club circuit.

The three-week run kicks off on the West Coast in late January, and wraps up at New York City's famed C.B.G.B. on Feb. 17. The itinerary is shown below.

"It's time once again to rock out, share the new music, kick some ass and have some fun," the group said in a recent message posted at its website. "These exclusive 15 U.S. dates are going to be in seriously small rooms with 75-minute sets of throw-n-go, down-n-dirty, beautifully brutal music."

Concertgoers will get an early listen to material from Mudvayne's forthcoming third album, "Lost and Found," which is due out in early April, according to Epic Records.

"As a band, it's important to remain focused on your roots and remember the people who supported you during the early struggles," lead vocalist Chad Gray said in a statement. "With that in mind, we're going to show our core of diehard fans and friends our appreciation by returning to the venues where we started and giving them a preview of some new songs from our upcoming album."

Mudvayne recorded "Lost and Found" at The Plant in Sausalito, CA, with producer Dave Fortman (Superjoint Ritual, Evanescence). The set follows 2002's "The End of All Things to Come," for which the band members--which, up until that point, were known for donning outlandish and often gory make-up and costumes--recast themselves as aliens, complete with new disguises and nicknames. This time around, however, the group is going without the gimmickry.

"We've never been defined by the makeup," drummer Matt McDonough said in a statement. "That's just one of the artistic tools that we've used to communicate ideas. We're not apologizing for it or even saying that we won't wear it again in the future. But right now, this is how we're expressing ourselves."

Mudvayne has sold more than 2 million records worldwide and has racked up four RIAA gold-certified releases, according to Epic.
