Elton John tacks more stops onto U.S. itinerary
Elton John is set to spend the first half of 2005 touring the world, focusing most of his attention on a growing stint of U.S. dates.
The pop/rock mainstay is supporting "Peachtree Road," the 43rd album of his three-decade-plus career. The set hit stores on Nov. 17, and debuted at No. 17 on The Billboard 200 album chart.
John's initial round of U.S. tour dates gets underway in March, and focuses on the South and Midwest. He recently unveiled new April shows in the Milwaukee, Chicago and Detroit areas, tickets for which will hit the box office on Jan. 24; the confirmed itinerary thus far is shown below.
John will also perform a few 2005 stints at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. In 2003, he signed a deal to perform 75 concerts at the venue--which was built for Celine Dion's "A New Day" production--over three years. John performs during periods when Dion's show is dark. The Las Vegas show, designed by photographer and director David LaChapelle, is dubbed "The Red Piano."
In 2004, John's concerts grossed $43.3 million, ranking at No. 10 on Pollstar's year-end list of the top touring acts.
