Briefly: Young Buck, Glastonbury, Queen Latifah, Courtney Love
Young Buck , 23, pleaded not guilty on Monday (1/17) to a felony assault with a deadly weapon charge in connection with a stabbing that took place during November's Vibe Awards.
The rapper, whose real name is David Darnell Brown, is accused of stabbing Jimmy James Johnson, who allegedly started a melee by punching rapper/producer Dr. Dre during the ceremony. Brown is signed to Dr. Dre's label.
For the third time since it debuted in 1970, the U.K.'s Glastonbury festival will be taking the year off in 2006.
The event typically takes place at a Scotland farm owned by event organizer Michael Eavis.
"It has been part of Michael’s practice to regularly have a fallow year, to allow the land time to recover and the cows to have more time grazing outside during the summer," said a statement posted on the event's official website. "It is a regenerative exercise not only for Michael, but also for the hundreds of people who make Glastonbury what it is. It comes back with a bounce and with new energy and enthusiasm."
The 2004 Glastonbury fest is set for June 24-26. The lineup hasn't been announced.
Queen Latifah has been tapped to host the 47th Annual Grammy Awards, which take place Feb. 13 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live by CBS-TV.
Courtney Love has regained legal custody of her daughter, 11-year-old Frances Bean Cobain. Frances--whose father, Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, committed suicide in 1994--saw Love overdose on painkillers in late 2003, and the girl has been living with Love's stepfather and sister ever since.
