Briefly: Kenny Chesney, Houston, Stephen Malkmus, Take Action Tour
Kenny Chesney 's "Be As You Are: Songs from an Old Blue Chair" is the top-selling album in the U.S. this week, marking the country singer's third consecutive No. 1 studio album.
The showing pushes last week's No. 1 set, The Game's "Documentary," down to No. 2 on The Billboard 200 album chart. "This Woman," the latest from LeAnn Rimes , enters the chart at No. 3.
Green Day's "American Idiot" slips two spots to No. 4, and Eminem's "Encore" falls two rungs to No. 5.
R&B singer Houston reportedly gouged his own eye out last week after his security team thwarted an earlier suicide attempt in a London hotel room.
Further information wasn't available. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Houston during this tragic time," a Capitol Records spokesperson said in a statement.
Los Angeles native Houston, born Houston Summers IV, scored a Top-20 hit last year with "I Like That," a song that featured Chingy and Nate Dogg and was also used in a McDonald's commercial.
His debut album, 2004's "It's Already Written," is certified gold.
A May 24 release date has been set for "Face the Truth," the third solo release from ex-Pavement member Stephen Malkmus .
Since he's a father-to-be, Malkmus has "very little plans for touring" behind the new album, he said in a message posted on his website. He is scheduled to play a March 18 showcase at the South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX.
Head Automatica has pulled out of the Sub City Take Action Tour because frontman Daryl Palumbo must undergo surgery for the intestinal illness Crohn's disease, according to the band's website.
Hopesfall will take Head Automatica's slot on most dates; an additional act for the tour's March 3-12 stops will be announced.
