New album due from Toby Keith, tour with Ted Nugent grows
With the release date for his first new album since 2003's quadruple-platinum "Shock'N Y'all" now set, country singer Toby Keith continues to work the road with rocker Ted Nugent .
Keith's new, as-yet-untitled set is due in stores on May 17, according to Dreamworks Nashville. Lead single "Honky Tonk U" will be available exclusively at Walmart.com beginning Feb. 8. After 30 days, it will be sold at other outlets.
The track, produced by longtime Keith collaborator James Stroud, features Eddie Bayers on drums, David Hungate on bass, Brent Rowan on electric guitar, Mark Casstevens on acoustic guitar, Dan Dugmore on steel guitar, Clayton Ivey on Wurlitzer, Gordon Mote on piano and Mickey Raphael on harmonica. Michael Salomon ("Beer for My Horses," "How Do You Like Me Now?!") will direct a video for the track.
Keith and Nugent--who got to know each other last year during a USO-sponsored trip to Iraq, where they performed for U.S. troops--continue to add stops to their winter tour. Tickets for most shows are on sale now; details are in the itinerary below.
Also on Keith's schedule is a Feb. 13 show in Tallahassee, FL, to make good on a show he postponed in October, as well as summer festival appearances in Cheyenne, WY, and Detroit Lakes, MN.
Keith's latest release is "Greatest Hits 2," which features 11 tracks from his previous albums and three new tracks.
Keith has endeared himself to pro-war elements in the U.S. with his single "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)."
Nugent, meanwhile, has long been a colorful and outspoken supporter of gun and hunting rights, as well as other conservative causes.
