New drummer to man the skins on 3 Doors Down tour
With a new album release and supporting tour quickly approaching, Mississippi-based rockers 3 Doors Down have enlisted former Puddle of Mudd member Greg Upchurch to take over on drums.
"Greg is a brilliant drummer, one of the best out there right now," 3DD frontman Brad Arnold said in a statement. "We're looking forward to a long relationship with him."
Upchurch, a Louisiana native who was raised in Oklahoma, takes over for Daniel Adair, who joined 3DD during a tour in support of the band's sophomore release, "Away from the Sun," and played drums on the band's forthcoming follow-up, "Seventeen Days," which hits stores Tuesday (2/7).
Adair, a Canadian, recently announced that he has joined fellow Canuck rockers Nickelback.
3DD's world tour launches with a Feb. 12 performance at Florida's Daytona International Speedway as part of a racing event dubbed the 27th Annual Budweiser Shootout. There, 3 Doors Down will play its new single, "Let Me Go," before the race begins, and will follow the race with a full concert. The pre-race performance will air on FOX-TV, according to the group's website.
