Santana lines up spring/summer North American tour

Guitar great Carlos Santana sets out with his eponymous band this spring on a North American tour that is expected to back a new album.

The run kicks off May 30 in Florida, and touches down primarily at arenas before wrapping up with a pair of early July festival appearances. The itinerary is shown below.

Tickets for the tour's June 15 stop at New York City's Madison Square Garden are scheduled to hit the box office Saturday (2/12), according to Santana's website. No other on-sale dates were confirmed at press time.

Santana's North American run will follow an April swing through Latin America, details of which are posted at the group's website.

Before setting out on his North American tour, Carlos Santana will perform the Oscar-nominated cut "Al Otro Lado Del Rio," from the film "The Motorcycle Diaries," at the Academy Awards. The Feb. 27 ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, and will air on ABC.

On April 21, Carlos Santana will be honored at the 12th Annual BMI Latin Awards in Las Vegas, NV, during which he'll be crowned a BMI Icon.

Last month, Santana announced that it was putting the finishing touches on its follow-up to 2002's "Shaman." The new album is expected to surface this spring, according to the group's website.
