New Bruce Springsteen album to be issued in DualDisc format

"Devils & Dust," the forthcoming album from Bruce Springsteen , will be his first to be issued exclusively in DualDisc format, which allows for the album's audio to appear on one side of the disc and DVD content on the other.

The DVD side of the disc, which hits stores April 26, will feature filmmaker/photographer Danny Clinch's footage of the first live performances of material from the album. Included are acoustic renditions of "Devils & Dust," "Long Time Comin'," "Reno," "All I'm Thinkin' About" and "Matamoras Banks," each with Springsteen's extensive introductions. Clinch filmed the performances last month in New Jersey, according to a press release.

During his latest tour, Springsteen closed his shows by showing Clinch's black-and-white, Super-8mm film of Springsteen playing a country-blues version of "Countin' on a Miracle" from Springsteen's 2002 album, "The Rising."

The DVD side of "Devils & Dust" will also contain the full album mixed in 5.1 channel surround sound and in stereo.

Columbia Records plans to release a separate, deluxe edition of "Devils & Dust"--also in DualDisc format--that contains bonus photographs and "unique, song specific elements for each of the album's twelve tracks," according to Springsteen's publicist.

As previously reported, "Devils & Dust" features a dozen newly recorded Springsteen tracks produced by Brendan O'Brien, who also turned the knobs on "The Rising."

Springsteen is planning to tour behind the new set; an announcement is expected soon.
