Crystal Method gears up for album release, supporting tour
The Crystal Method has nailed down an April 5 release for a new collection of remixes, and will back the set with a national DJ tour.
The electronica duo--Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland--will launch the outing in Hawaii later this month, and will wrap things up on the East Coast in mid-May. The itinerary, shown below, features stops at a mix of dance clubs and major electronic-music events, including a March 26 set at Miami's ULTRA Music Festival, an April 14 set at San Francisco's Mezzanine, and a May 14 set at New York City's Spirit.
More tour dates are expected, according to organizers.
In the midst of the run, Jordan and Kirkland issue "Community Service II," a set featuring remixed versions of songs first recorded by The Doors ("Roadhouse Blues"), New Order ("Bizarre Love Triangle"),Smashing Pumpkins ("1979") and others, as well as revamped takes of previously released Crystal Method originals and new cuts from break-beat producers including UNKLE, Evil Nine and Uberzone. A complete track listing is included below.
"Community Service II" is The Crystal Method 's follow-up to last year's "Legion of Boom," and is the pair's second DJ-mix collection; the first, "Community Service," surfaced in 2002.
Jordan and Kirkland host a weekly radio show dedicated to electronic music that airs every Friday night on Los Angeles radio station 102.1 FM. The March 25 edition of the show will feature a taped broadcast recorded in Miami during the tour's visit to the area "so various talents in town during the Winter Music Conference can participate in interviews and debut new music," according to a press release.
