Trey Anastasio breaks from the studio for spring tour

Former Phish frontman Trey Anastasio , who's been cooped up in the studio working on a new solo album, jumps on the road this spring.

Anastasio and his new backing band plan to launch the run in late April, and are currently scheduled to wrap things up with a two-night stand at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom on May 13-14. Tickets for most dates will hit the box office on March 18 and 19; details are included in the itinerary below.

A portion of the proceeds from the tour will benefit a local homeless shelter in each market along the route, according to Anastasio's website.

Also on Anastasio's calendar is a performance at this June's annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, at which ex-Phish bandmate and bassist Mike Gordon is slated to play a set, as well.

Anastasio's spring tour will be his first since Phish disbanded last summer.

In December, Anastasio began work on a new solo album at The Barn, the Vermont-based recording studio that he founded with Phish. Citing sources at The Barn, Anastasio's website says "the new music combines his signature complex arrangements and song craftsmanship with a powerful rock edge."

A release date has not been announced.
