Dave Matthews Band to 'Stand Up' new album in May
The Dave Matthews Band , which has just about finished work on the follow-up to 2002's "Busted Stuff," has unveiled the new album's title and a release date.
RCA Records has announced that the upcoming set, dubbed "Stand Up," will be in stores on May 10, a few weeks before the band embarks on a previously announced amphitheater tour.
The band worked with producer Marc Batson, whose credits include collaborations with Eminem, 50 Cent, Talib Kweli and India.Arie.
"Mark is an incredible musician and composer in his own right," Dave Matthews said in a statement. "Making this album was an unbelievable experience for everyone in the band. ... Mark managed to single each one of us out in a way that is aggressive and confident.”
Among the tracks on "Stand Up" are "American Baby" (the album's first single), "Dream Girl," "Smooth Rider" and "Stolen Away."
Early in the recording process, the band launched a website to chronicle the making of the new album. The regularly updated site features taped interviews with Batson and members of the band.
"Never before have our cameras been allowed to document the creative process of the making of a Dave Matthews Band album in such an intimate way," DMB Lighting Designer/Video Director Fenton Williams said in a statement. "This website gives us a chance to film a side of the band never seen before. We have captured some amazing moments."
The band embarks on an Australian tour in late March, and is set to play April 30 at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The 50-city U.S. amphitheater tour launches June 1.
