Ben Folds gears up for roadwork behind new album
Ben Folds , who soon will issue his first full-length studio set since 2001, will back the album with a spring tour.
Titled "Songs for Silverman," the new release is due out April 26, and features the original cut "Landed." That song, as well as the non-album track "Bitches Ain't S---"--Folds's cover of the Dr. Dre original--are currently available via Apple's iTunes Music Store.
The Dre cover is also housed on the vinyl 7" version of "Landed," which is scheduled for release March 22. That same day, Epic Records will issue a remastered version of the platinum Ben Folds Five album "Whatever and Ever Amen," which features the hit "Brick." The updated version will also house seven bonus tracks, including the band's renditions of The Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star" and The Flaming Lips' "She Don't Use Jelly."
Two days before "Songs for Silverman" hits stores, Folds will perform at Millersville University in Pennsylvania. A handful of post-release May dates are also scheduled. The itinerary is shown below.
Folds--who hasn't released a full-length studio set since 2001's "Rockin' the Suburbs"--issued two new EPs last year: "Speed Graphic" and "Sunny 16." He also turns up on "The Bens"--a self-titled EP featuring Folds, Ben Lee and Ben Kweller--which surfaced in January.
