Moby returns with new album, spring tour
Electronica guru Moby backs his just-released album with a spring run on the North American club and theater circuit.
The tour launches in mid-April, and dates so far stretch into early May. Details are shown below.
The jaunt backs Moby's fifth studio album, "Hotel," which landed in stores Tuesday (3/22). The set features the singles "Beautiful" and "Lift Me Up."
"We've been rehearsing a lot, and I have to say that I'm quite happy with the way things are sounding," Moby wrote in an early March message posted at his website. "The set will be a combination of songs from 'Hotel,' 'Play' and '18,' with some older dance tracks thrown in as well (i.e. 'Go,' 'Feeling So Real')."
Recorded and mixed last year at Moby's apartment, as well as at New York City's Electric Lady Studios and Loho Studios, "Hotel" is a departure for Moby in that it contains no vocal samples, a fixture on his previous works. Instead, Moby--in addition to playing all instruments on the set except for live drums, which Scott Frassetto handled--laid down lead vocals on 10 cuts, and dueted with Laura Dawn on two other numbers.
Rounding out the set's 14 tracks are two instrumentals.
Streaming samples from "Hotel" are available at the album's official website.
