Sum 41 maps more spring shows

Canadian rockers Sum 41 have added more dates to a spring tour of North America that kicks off in their homeland early next month.

Set to launch April 7 with a two-night stand in Toronto, the tour now stretches into May. Also on tap is a pair of August, show-opening performances for Motley Crue.

Sum 41 has not announced any support acts for the tour's initial batch of Canadian stops, but Unwritten Law and Hawthorne Heights are on board for its U.S. headlining shows.

Also on tap are several radio-station festivals, noted in the itinerary below.

Prior to launching the tour, the band will perform at the April 3 Juno Awards in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The group is vying for two awards at the ceremony (the Canadian equivalent of the Grammys): Best Group of the Year and Best Rock Album of the Year.

Pre-tour plans also include a Thursday (3/24) performance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," according to the group's website.

Dubbed the "Go Chuck Yourself" tour, the outing supports "Chuck," Sum 41's follow-up to 2002's "Does This Look Infected?" Released in October, the new album is named for Chuck Pelletier, a United Nations representative who, last May, helped to evacuate the group from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where the band members were shooting a documentary--since released and titled "War Child"--about that country's longstanding civil war.

The group arrived during a time of cease-fire, but violence broke out while they were in the country. Pelletier eventually ushered the band members to safety, and they were ultimately evacuated by plane.

Unwritten Law released its latest album, "Here's to the Mourning," on Feb. 1. Hawthorne Heights delivered its debut set, "Silence in Black and White," last June.
