Mighty Mighty Bosstones Snag New Guitar Player

Atlanta native Lawrence Katz has joined the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, replacing guitarist Nate Albert, who had been with the band since its 1985 inception. Albert was 14 years old when he joined the Bosstones, according to the band's official website.

Albert departed after band finished recording the forthcoming album "Pay Attention," which is scheduled for release on May 2. According to the website, Albert left the band to continue as a student at Brown University and to care for an ailing family member.

''Nate is going to be missed,'' said bassist Joe Gittleman. ''Not only because he is a great friend and a great guy to have around, but also because he is one of the best guitarists out there.''

During a recent stint in Los Angeles, newly anointed Bosstone Katz played with Fishbone drummer Fish in his side band Khaleel, as well as with singer/songwriter Julian Coryell.

The Bosstones are scheduled to appear on this summer's Vans Warped Tour.
