Snow Patrol does its North American rounds this spring
British rock band Snow Patrol , currently working on a follow-up to its 2004 breakthrough "Final Straw," is set to tour North America this spring.
More than a month of U.S. and Canadian shows are currently on the books, including a performance at Southern California's Coachella festival. Club dates dominate the itinerary, which can be found below.
"Final Straw," Snow Patrol's third album, earned the band--which has roots in Northern Ireland--two trophies at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards, as well as three Brit Awards nominations and an NME Awards nomination. The set topped out at No. 91 in the U.S. on The Billboard 200 album chart.
The group will get plenty of additional exposure following its North American jaunt when it opens a series of European dates for U2.
According to the band's publicist, Snow Patrol is currently in "rural Ireland" writing songs for a new album. Absent from the proceedings is founding bassist Mark McClelland.
"Following a life-changing year in 2004, Snow Patrol found themselves under a whole set of new and unexpected pressures," said a statement the band issued earlier this month. "These pressures have unfortunately taken their toll on working relationships within the band, and it was felt that Snow Patrol could not move forward with Mark as a member."
Frontman Gary Lightbody, in a statement posted on the band's official website, said: "This is the hardest decision we have ever had to make, and believe us when we say we didn't make it lightly. It got to the stage that things couldn't go on as they were, so we felt there was no other course of action but this."
A replacement for McClelland hadn't been named by press time.
