George Thorogood & The Destroyers log more miles
George Thorogood & The Destroyers, who last year celebrated their 30th anniversary, plan to spend most of the spring and summer on the road.
The blues-rock outfit returns to the tour trail in mid-May, and dates stretch into late August. Details are shown below.
Last year, Capitol Records/EMI marked the group's anniversary with by releasing "George Thorogood & The Destroyers Greatest Hits: 30 Years of Rock." The 16-song set features "Bad to the Bone," "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," "Move It On Over," "You Talk Too Much," "If You Don't Start Drinking (I'm Gonna Leave)" and more.
Also last year, Thorogood issued "George Thorogood & The Destroyers 30th Anniversary Tour--Live in Europe." The DVD captures the group's performance at the Royal Concert Hall in Nottingham, England, and also features behind-the-scenes footage and interview clips.
"This was our most extensive tour of England and I was struck by how respectful the fans were," Thorogood said in a statement. "They were almost studious. It reminded me of the Dylan documentary 'Don't Look Back.' I was a little shocked by that. It felt like we were conducting a seminar--definitely different from the rowdy reception we get back home. But it was cool."
Thorogood & The Destroyers' most recent studio album is 2003's "Ride 'til I Die." Formed in 1974, the group released its self-titled debut in 1977.
The band is currently making plans for a new studio release, with Thorogood using a mobile recording studio while on the road to "work on songs that promise to reach deeper into his blues roots," according to a press release. No release date for the new project has been announced.
