Social Distortion plots late-spring tour

After taking a coast-to-coast swing through the U.S. earlier this year, Social Distortion suits up for more roadwork behind last year's "Sex, Love and Rock'n'Roll."

The forthcoming stretch of shows kicks off in mid-May, and dates so far--which focus primarily on the Northeast--stretch into early June. Details are shown below.

"Sex, Love and Rock'n'Roll" is Social D's first album of new material since 1996's "White Light, White Heat, White Trash," and is also the group's first recording without guitarist Dennis Danell, who died of a brain aneurysm in 2000. Taking over for Danell is Jonny Wickersham.

Also new to the lineup since "White Light, White Heat, White Trash" surfaced is drummer Charlie Quintana, who replaced Chuck Biscuits in 2000.

Founding member Mike Ness still fronts the band.

Bassist John Maurer, who was with Social Distortion for 20 years, recorded "Sex, Love and Rock'n'Roll" with the group, but has since bowed out, and Rancid bassist Matt Freeman, who took over for Maurer during the band's fall 2004 tour, has resigned his post in the wake of the birth of his first child.

Bassist Brent Harding, who toured with Ness during the singer's 1999 solo outing, rounds out the lineup.
