Pixies reunion continues with 2005 tour dates

Last year's unlikely regrouping of the Pixies --a rare success story in a tough touring year--will resume in 2005 with a mix of headlining and festival appearances.

The band's three-week May/June itinerary focuses on markets the group didn't visit in 2004. In some cities, two shows are planned for a single night. Festival dates include Washington's Sasquatch Festival, Atlanta's Music Midtown, and Cleveland's CMJ Rock Hall Music Fest. Details are in the itinerary below; more dates and details are expected.

The Pixies' reunion launched last April, and the quartet remained on the road for eight months. The outing wrapped up with a sold-out, eight-night run in New York City, for which 24,000 tickets were sold, according to the band's publicist.

Last year's tour marked the first since 1992 by the original Pixies lineup: vocalist/guitarist Frank Black (a.k.a. Black Francis and Charles Thompson), guitarist Joey Santiago, bassist Kim Deal and drummer David Lovering.

In the midst of the outing, the band recorded "Bam Thwok," its first new song in 13 years. Deal wrote the track, which is on sale exclusively at the iTunes Music Store.
