Alanis Morissette takes acoustic version of 'Jagged Little Pill' on tour
After last month announcing plans to release a newly recorded acoustic version of her 1995 breakthrough album, "Jagged Little Pill," singer Alanis Morissette has lined up an unplugged tour behind the set.
The outing kicks off in the Canadian singer/songwriter's home country on June 7, and subsequently touches down at theaters in 27 U.S. cities by the time it wraps up on the West Coast in mid-July. The itinerary is included below.
The tour's launch precedes the June 13 release of "Jagged Little Pill (Acoustic)," which will first be available exclusively at Starbucks retails stores and via the company's website; Starbucks will be the sole distributor for six weeks, after which time the album will be available through traditional outlets.
"I am having so much fun playing these newly interpreted songs, some of them different harmonic tracks altogether," Morissette said in a statement. "I notice that different layers of emotions emerge with these songs being broken down and revisited. I can't wait to tip my hat to this record in a way that also references the present and the future."
The original version of "Jagged Little Pill" surfaced on June 13, 1995. Morissette re-teamed with the album's producer, Glen Ballard, for the acoustic set; the two last worked together on 1998's "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie."
In addition to acoustic versions of all of the original album's tracks, "Jagged Little Pill (Acoustic)" will also include "special footage" from the original album's era, as well as "other bonus features," according to a press release.
