Jason Mraz joins Alanis Morissette's summer acoustic tour
Singer/songwriter Jason Mraz precedes the late-July release of his sophomore album with a slot on Alanis Morissette 's upcoming acoustic jaunt.
Mraz--who is finishing up a series of spring headlining dates at college campuses--sets out with Morissette in early June and remains on board through her tour's mid-July conclusion. Also on tap for Mraz are a pair of late-August opening sets for the Dave Matthews Band. Details are shown below.
The run with Morissette leads up to the July 26 release of "Mr. A-Z," Mraz's follow-up to 2002's "Waiting for My Rocket to Come." Steve Lillywhite, who most recently turned the knobs on U2's "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb," produced the new set.
"'Mr. A-Z' is my pseudo-self-titled second album," Mraz said in a statement. "This time it's all Mraz from beginning to end, the alpha and the omega, from the frontal lobe to the reptilian membrane, the A-Z, thus assigning it the nomenclature it naturally desired and deserved, 'Mr. A-Z.'"
The new set features lead-off single "Wordplay," which is due to hit radio stations May 16, according to Elektra/Atlantic. Plans for a May U.S. promotional tour are in the works; details weren't available at press time.
