Widespread Panic to tour through the summer

With its spring tour entering its final weeks, Widespread Panic has unveiled plans for additional dates that will keep the band on the road into August.

The Athens, GA-based jam band returned to road in March, following a 15-month touring sabbatical. Judging from the pace of ticket sales for the spring leg, the band was missed: traditional ticket outlets in many markets posted sellouts within a matter of minutes, according to Widespread Panic's camp. Meanwhile, the band's publicist claims that the band's in-house ticketing system had to leave more than 90,000 requests for tickets unfulfilled for the Atlanta show alone.

Widespread Panic recently unveiled the website www.LiveWidespreadPanic.com, at which fans can download full concerts from select dates. To launch the site, free downloads of the band's March 24-26 performances in Atlanta are being offered for a limited time. Future full-length concerts will be sold as MP3s for $10.90 or in the higher-quality FLAC format for $15.95.

Widespread Panic's latest release is February's "Live at Myrtle Beach," a concert album recorded in 2003. The group's most recent studio set is 2003's "Ball."
