Collective Soul packs schedule with more tour dates
Collective Soul , which this weekend is slated to record a live set in Atlanta, shows no signs of slowing as it continues to back its latest studio album and gears up for the release of a new EP.
The group's schedule now runs into August, and includes an early May Canadian trek. A slew of U.S. shows are ahead as well, some of which are part of the "Road to Vegas" tour, an outing that celebrates the city's 100th birthday. The itinerary is included below.
Among Collective Soul's U.S. dates are Saturday and Sunday (4/23-24) performances in Atlanta with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. The band plans to record both shows for use in an upcoming live set titled "Collective Soul 'Home' with the Atlanta Youth Symphony," a portion of proceeds from which will benefit the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, according to a press release.
"The initial idea developed as a unique opportunity between us and the Atlanta Symphony," frontman Ed Roland said in a statement. "During discussions about the project, we learned that Atlanta houses one of the top three youth symphonies in the country and with our new record appropriately titled 'Youth,' the idea transitioned naturally."
Due to surface in the fall, the live set will be available in a two-disc, audio-only version, a DVD-video version and a box set featuring both formats. A specific release date has not been announced.
Released in November, "Youth" is Collective Soul's first new studio set since 2000's "Blender." The new album features the cuts "Better Now," "Counting the Days," "How Do You Love" and "Under Heaven's Skies," all of which are streaming at the band's website.
On May 24, Collective Soul will issue via its newly formed El Music Group label an eight-song acoustic set titled "From the Ground Up."
