'American Idol' finalists ready for U.S. arenas
The top 10 finalists from the 2005 edition of the hit Fox-TV talent show "American Idol" will hit the road this summer for a 30-plus city U.S. arena tour dubbed "American Idols Live ."
Tickets for the tour, which kicks off July 12 in Florida and runs through Sept. 10, will go on sale during the weekend of May 20, according to Fox's "American Idol" website. The show's current-season finalists have toured together every year since the series debuted in 2002.
Six contestants are still in the running to be crowned this year's American Idol: Bo Bice, Anthony Federov, Constantine Maroulis, Scott Savol, Vonzell Solomon and Carrie Underwood. Besides those performers, recently eliminated finalists Anwar Robinson, Jessica Sierra, Nikko Smith and Nadia Turner will also appear on the tour.
According to a press release, the shows will feature individual and ensemble performances, as well as songs from the upcoming compilation album "Showstoppers," due in stores May 17.
This year's "American Idol" winner will be named during the series' May 25 finale. Winners in previous years were Fantasia Barrino (2004), Ruben Studdard (2003) and Kelly Clarkson (2002).
