Audioslave to play free Hollywood show

Audioslave , which canceled its Tuesday night (5/17) performance in San Diego, is expected to return to the stage for a free, outdoor show in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (5/18).

The performance is set to take place on a "custom-built stage in the middle of Hollywood Boulevard near the intersection of Hollywood and Highland," and footage from the show will air on Wednesday night's edition of ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," according to an announcement posted at the band's website.

Fans will be able to purchase and download songs recorded during the show, according to the announcement. More information is available at the group's site.

On Tuesday (5/18), hours before Audioslave was due to hit the stage at the House of Blues in San Diego, organizers announced that the show had been postponed due to illness. Refunds are available at the point of purchase, but tickets will be honored during a not-yet-announced make-up date, which will take place after the band's European tour.

At press time, a spokesperson for the group had not responded to an inquiry about who in the band was sick, and what the nature of the illness was.

Audioslave has spent the past month on a pre-release tour of the U.S., an outing that ushers in its May 24 sophomore set, "Out of Exile." The tour's only remaining date is set for Friday (5/20) at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles.

The group's European outing is slated to run from late May until early July; details are posted at the band's website.

"Out of Exile" is streaming in its entirety at Audioslave's MySpace.com webpage.
