Summer tour plans grow for recuperating Ani DiFranco

Ani DiFranco , who recently canceled a planned June tour of Europe due to an unspecified ailment, has added a second leg of shows to her summer U.S. tour, which kicks off in July.

Following a two-week July outing, DiFranco will take a break before launching the second round of shows in late August; dates for the late-summer trek stretch into mid-September. The itinerary is shown below.

Last week, DiFranco announced that she had been forced to cancel her June Euro outing.

"A current medical condition prevents her from touring and doctors have prescribed a two-month hiatus from all performing as mandatory to her recovery," DiFranco's label, Righteous Babe Records, said in a statement. "Ani plans to get back on the road in the U.S. in mid-July, as previously scheduled."

DiFranco's latest album, "Knuckle Down," surfaced in January. The set--which follows 2004's Grammy-nominated "Educated Guess"--marks the first time that DiFranco shared production duties; guitarist/songwriter Joe Henry co-produced.

Samples of several cuts from "Knuckle Down" are streaming at Righteous Babe's website.
