Briefly: Kylie Minogue, Tommy Lee, Stevie Wonder, Otis Taylor
Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue , who announced earlier this week that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer, will undergo an operation in Melbourne this week.
So far, tests "have confirmed the earlier diagnosis that the cancer appears to be confined to the breast," said a statement posted at the singer's official website.
Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee will release his third album, "Tommyland: The Ride," on Aug. 2. The set features guest spots from Dave Navarro, Good Charlotte's Joel Madden, Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter and Sum 41's Deryck Whibley, among others.
The release date for the new Stevie Wonder album, "A Time to Love"--which was originally scheduled to hit stores last year and later moved to this June--has been postponed indefinitely.
Contemporary bluesman Otis Taylor will drop his seventh album, "Below the Fold," on Aug. 23. According to a press release, the album's sound is fleshed out with fiddle, organ and banjo.
"I'm obsessive about trying out new ideas and sounds," Taylor said in a statement. "And I'm particularly drawn to the banjo because it's originally from Africa. In old-time music, banjoists would tap on their fifth string, a process which carries right through to Delta blues."
