Carrie Underwood crowned 'American Idol,' tour launches in July
Oklahoma-raised country singer Carrie Underwood has been crowned the winner of the fourth season of Fox-TV's talent show "American Idol."
Along with the "American Idol" title, Underwood was awarded with a recording contract, a car and access to a private jet.
Bice, an Alabama-bred rock singer, also won a car. All three past "Idol" runners-up have been signed to record deals as well.
Underwood, Bice and the other top-10 finalists from this year's edition of "Idol"--Anthony Federov, Constantine Maroulis, Scott Savol, Vonzell Solomon, Anwar Robinson, Jessica Sierra, Nikko Smith and Nadia Turner--will hit the road this summer for a 30-plus city U.S. Arena tour dubbed " American Idols Live ."
The tour kicks off July 12 in Florida and runs through Sept. 10. Details are below; tickets are on sale now.
According to a press release, the shows will feature individual and ensemble performances, as well as songs from the new "American Idol" compilation album "Showstoppers."
"American Idol" winners in previous years were Fantasia Barrino (2004), Ruben Studdard (2003) and Kelly Clarkson (2002).
