Black Crowes nail down more summer shows
The reunited Black Crowes continue to fill up their summer schedule with headlining stops, festival appearances and more opening dates for Tom Petty .
New to the group's itinerary are three July shows--including a performance at Minnesota's 10,000 Lakes Festival and a headlining engagement in Atlantic City, NJ--and a September appearance at the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival in Colorado.
The Crowes have also lined up a number of new August dates with Petty, with whom they'll spend the bulk of their summer on a tour that kicks off next week. The itinerary is shown below.
On Sunday (5/29), the Crowes wrapped up a round of headlining shows that opened with a seven-night stand in New York City. The Big Apple engagement marked the group's first shows together since 2001.
The Black Crowes ' current lineup features founding brothers Chris Robinson (vocals) and Rich Robinson (guitar); original drummer Steve Gorman; guitarist Marc Ford (who was fired from the band in 1997) and keyboardist Eddie Hawysch (aka Eddi Harsch), both of whom joined the group after its debut album and tour in 1990; and bassist Sven Pipien, who first joined the group in 1997.
As a result of their so-far-successful reunion, the Crowes are "being pursued by the major and indie record labels and publishing companies to sign new deals," but have "chosen to remain free agents in control of their own destiny," according to a press release. No word yet on whether the band plans to record a new album.
