Briefly: 311, Oscar Brown, Tsar, The Early November
Alt-rock band 311 will release its eighth studio album, "Don't Tread on Me," on July 26. The set follows the band's 2003 set, "Evolver," and the 2004 best-of package "Greatest Hits."
A late-summer tour is in the works to support the new album.
Jazz/R&B vocalist, songwriter and poet Oscar Brown Jr., who was originally hospitalized in April for treatment of a bone infection, died Sunday (5/29). He was 78.
According to Brown's official website, the incredibly prolific artist wrote more than 1,000 songs and more than a dozen musical plays.
Los Angeles-based glam-rockers Tsar issue their sophomore album, "Band-Girls-Money," on June 28. The set is the group's first for TVT Records.
On July 26, Drive-Thru Records will release a split CD featuring two tracks from The Early November--a demo version of the new song "Outside," slated for the band's next album, plus a live version of the previously released "Ever So Sweet"--and two tracks from the newly signed band I Am the Avalanche.
The debut album from I Am the Avalanche, headed by former The Movielife frontman Vinnie Caruana, is scheduled to hit stores Sept. 27.
