Megadeth, Dream Theater unveil more Gigantour dates

Megadeth and Dream Theater have added more than a dozen new dates to their summer metal festival, dubbed Gigantour.

The run--which also features additional mainstage acts Fear Factory , Dillinger Escape Plan and Nevermore --kicks off in late July, and now features a number of new July and August dates, as well as two early September stops in eastern Canada. Details are shown below.

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, who is organizing the event, has recruited Life of Agony, Symphony X, Dry Kill Logic and Bobaflex for the tour's second stage.

Regular tickets are priced at "approximately $35 each," according to a press release; fans can also purchase premium tickets via the tour's website.

Last week, Mustaine and director Michael Sarna began filming a documentary about the tour, which Mustaine plans to release on DVD. The disc will include behind-the-scenes footage, as well as "songs from the various bands on the tour, soundchecks" and additional bonus materials, according to Megadeth's website. No release date has been announced.

Mustaine assembled Megadeth's current lineup--Glen Drover (guitar), James MacDonough (bass) and Shawn Drover (drums)--for a late-2004 tour behind last year's "The System Has Failed," which entered The Billboard 200 album chart at No. 18. The singer/guitarist told liveDaily last year that the band's roadwork behind the new album would be its "swan song."

"This is the retirement farewell tour," he said. "It's not gonna be like the [yet-to-end] KISS farewell tour."

Megadeth will have a chance to warm up for the Gigantour with a July 15 performance at Wisconsin's annual Rock Fest.
