System of a Down floats a handful of summer U.S. dates
System of a Down has nailed down the first few dates of its North American tour behind its recently released chart-topper, "Mezmerize."
The Southern California-based rock quartet launches the run on its home turf with an Aug. 4 show in Long Beach, and five dates are confirmed so far, all of which are set in California and Texas.
Tickets for all five shows hit the box office this weekend, and prices range from $32.50 to $45, according to a press release. On-sale dates are included in the itinerary below.
The group's website will host a ticket presale that begins Wednesday (6/8). Details are posted at the site.
As previously reported, all tour dates will feature special guests The Mars Volta ; meanwhile, SOAD has tapped Bad Acid Trip to open the outing's first leg.
Plans call for the trek to touch down in about 40 cities over a 10-week period, according to organizers.
Released in mid-May, System of a Down's "Mezmerize"--the first disc of the double album "Mezmerize/Hypnotize"--sold 453,000 units during its first week in stores, and scored a No. 1 debut on The Billboard 200 album chart. The "Hypnotize" half of the set is expected to hit stores late this fall.
