Powerman 5000 turns up the juice for summer tour
Rockers Powerman 5000 , who soon will launch a summer tour aimed at priming fans for the group's next album, have stacked more dates onto their schedule.
The run is now scheduled to kick off Wednesday night (6/8) in Michigan, and a handful of June and July dates have been added to the outing's first leg. Meanwhile, a second leg of August dates has also surfaced. Details are included below.
PM5K's lineup during the upcoming tour will feature mainstay frontman Spider One, longtime members Adrian Ost (drums) and Siggy Siursen (bass), and new guitarists Terry Corso (ex-Alien Ant Farm) and Johnny Rock (ex-Half-Cocked).
Founding guitarist Adam 12--who, aside from Spider One, was the group's only remaining original member--has left the group, but will appear on a forthcoming album that the band recently recorded in Boston.
No release date for the new album has been announced, but two new cuts from the group are available online. The first, titled "Heroes & Villains"--which is used in the THQ video game "MX Unleashed"--is posted at the official PM5K website; the second, titled "The Last Night on Earth"--which is used in THQ's "WWE SmackDown! Vs. RAW" video game--is streaming with several previously released cuts at the band's MySpace webpage. The band hasn't decided if the cuts will appear on the forthcoming album, according to a spokesperson.
Last October, Powerman 5000 issued "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Vol. 1," a collection of b-sides and rarities that includes a cover of Bjork's "Army of Me," a former staple of the band's live setlist. The album's 20 tracks were recorded between 1991 and 1996, and feature the Boston quintet's original lineup of Spider One, Adam 12, percussionist Jordan, bassist Dorian Heartsong and drummer Alan Pahanish.
