Backstreet Boys reveal summer itinerary
With their first studio album in nearly five years headed for stores, the Backstreet Boys have unveiled the details of a lengthy summer tour.
The outing launches July 22 in the group's home base of Florida, and visits a mix of outdoor venues, theaters and arenas though early September. According to a press release, tickets for the outing will go on sale to the general public June 17-19.
Starting Friday (6/10), fans who purchase two top-priced tickets for select shows via a pre-sale at AOLCityGuide.com will also receive two lower-priced tickets for free. More information about the promotion, as well as an exclusive Backstreet Boys in-studio performance for AOL Music Sessions, is available at the AOL Music website.
"Never Gone," the first new Backstreet Boys album in nearly five years, is due in stores June 14.
The set features input from Max Martin, who was involved in the writing and production of previous Backstreet Boys hits "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)," "As Long as You Love Me" and "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)."
Other contributors include Mark Taylor, who produced the title track (a cut that Richardson co-wrote as a tribute to his father, according to Jive Records), and Dan Muckala, who produced "Incomplete," as well as Billy Mann (Pink, Sting), John Ondrasik of Five for Fighting, John Shanks (2004 Grammy Award Producer of the Year), John Fields (Switchfoot) and Darren Hayes of Savage Garden.
The album will be released on DualDisc, a format that allows for the album's audio to appear on one side of the disc and DVD content to appear on the other.
The DVD side of the album's DualDisc version will feature the video for the album's first single, "Incomplete," and a segment on the making of the video, as well as in-studio and behind-the-scenes footage of the group, according to a press release.
In addition, an exclusive digital version of the album including the "Incomplete" video and a digital booklet will be available for download at Apple's iTunes Music Store beginning June 14.
Backstreet Boys will hype their new album with appearances on "The Today Show" concert series (6/10), "The View" (6/14), "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (6/16) and "The CBS Early Showj" (6/17). VH1 will air "Backstreet Boys: Behind the Music" starting June 13.
