Willie Nelson to follow Dylan trek with more shows
Once his lengthy summer tour of Minor League baseball stadiums with Bob Dylan is in the books, 72-year-old country great Willie Nelson will keep his tour bus rolling.
The ballpark tour got underway in May, and is scheduled to wrap up July 12 in St. Paul, MN. Also on board for the outing are The Greencards, an acoustic, bluegrass-style trio with roots in the U.K. and Australia.
From there, Nelson--who typically plays about 250 shows per year--is booked solid with his own headlining dates from mid-July through mid-September.
Included in Nelson's schedule is his annual 4th of July Picnic, which this year takes place at the Fort Worth Stockyards in Texas. The bill will also feature Dylan, Los Lonely Boys, Ray Price, The Doobie Brothers, Asleep at the Wheel, David Allan Coe, Jessi Colter, Billy Joe Shaver, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Johnny Bush, Leon Russell and many others. Details are posted at the event's website.
Nelson's most recent album is a best-of set titled "Songs," which houses 20 of his previously released hits. His most recent collection of new material is last year's "I Always Will Be."
