Briefly: Avril Lavigne, Deryck Whibley, Ralph Stanley, Bob Dylan
US Weekly reports that Avril Lavigne and Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley--fellow Canadian pop-rockers--are engaged to be married.
Whibley reportedly popped the question in Europe--where Lavigne is on tour--over the weekend.
Bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley , 78, underwent successful triple-bypass heart surgery Monday (6/28). He is expected to make a full recovery.
A CD containing 10 live, early Bob Dylan recordings will be available exclusively at Starbucks stores in the U.S. and Canada on Aug. 30.
The album, "Live at the Gaslight 1962," was taped at the Gaslight Cafe in New York's Greenwich Village, and includes the earliest known recordings of "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" and "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right."
Bootleg recordings of the Gaslight performances have circulated for years, but the upcoming album marks the first official release of the material.
