Jonny Lang unplugs for summer tour
Singer and guitar-whiz Jonny Lang will dial things down a bit during a summer run that is billed as "Jonny Lang: The Acoustic Band Tour 2005."
Lang's schedule comprises a few mid-July stops in the Northeast, followed by a battery of August and September dates, three of which will feature blues-guitar legend Buddy Guy ; Guy and Lang will also team for a late-October show in Minnesota.
"This acoustic tour is just basically something to bridge the gap between now and the coming out of the next record," Lang told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune earlier this year. The new album, which he plans to record this year, will be a gospel-themed set.
Lang's most recent release is 2003's "Long Time Coming," a more pop/rock-oriented set than its blues-based predecessors, 1998's "Wander This World" and Lang's major-label debut, 1997's "Lie to Me."
Lang wrote or co-wrote all but one of the tracks on "Long Time Coming," and co-produced the set with help from Marti Fredrickson (Ozzy Osbourne, Aerosmith, Faith Hill).
