Juliana Hatfield sets tour behind 'Made in China'

With a new album titled "Made in China" headed for stores on Aug. 9, Massachusetts-based singer/songwriter Juliana Hatfield is lining up a club tour to hype the set.

The outing is so far scheduled to visit 10 cities. More dates are in the works for the East and West coasts, according to Hatfield's official website.

Hatfield will self-release the forthcoming album on her new label, Ye Olde Records. In a letter to fans posted on her website earlier this year, Hatfield said the new set was financed in part by a large batch of previously unreleased recordings that she made available for download online. Beginning last year, she asked fans to donate $1 to her via PayPal for each downloaded song. The honor-system downloads have since been removed from the site.

Hatfield's latest release was last year's "In Exile Deo." Though it was her first solo album in four years, she remained active in the interim. In 2001, she reunited with the Blake Babies for a tour and a new album titled "God Bless the Blake Babies." She also launched Some Girls, a side project that also features Freda Love of Blake Babies and Heidi Gluck of The Pieces. The trio's debut release, "Feel It," hit stores in 2003.
