System of a Down adds second leg to North American tour
Southern California-based rockers System of a Down have announced a new round of North American dates that will keep them on the road into October.
The tour's second leg opens Sept. 17 in Vancouver, and tickets for most of the newly confirmed dates hit the market over this coming weekend. Details are in the itinerary below. Pre-sale tickets will also be available; information is posted at SOAD's website.
SOAD launches its North American tour Aug. 4 with a two-night stand in Long Beach, CA, and the outing's first leg runs through early September. Tickets for many of the first-leg dates have already sold out, according to the band's publicist.
The Mars Volta will open both legs of the tour, along with a third band to be announced.
In May, System of a Down dropped "Mezmerize," the first half of a double album dubbed "Mesmerize/Hypnotize." "Mezmerize" sold about 453,000 copies during its first week in stores, enough to score a No. 1 debut on The Billboard 200 album chart. "Hypnotize," the album's second disc, is set for a late-fall release.
System of a Down--Daron Malakian (guitars, vocals), Serj Tankian (vocals), Shavo Odadjian (bass) and John Dolmayan (drums)--recorded the 30 tracks that comprise "Mezmerize/Hypnotize" at co-producer Rick Rubin's Los Angeles studio during the second half of 2004. Malakian split production duties with Rubin, and Andy Wallace mixed the set.
