Lil' Kim was sentenced Wednesday (7/6) to a year in prison and hit with a $50,000 fine for lying to a federal grand jury.
The rapper, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, was convicted in March of covering up for two friends who were involved in a 2001 shooting outside of a New York City radio station. She could have faced up to 20 years.
With about 245,000 copies sold during its first week in stores, George Strait 's "Somewhere Down in Texas" has become the country singer's third album to top The Billboard 200 chart.
Strait's showing and the No. 2 debut of the Ying Yang Twins ' "U.S.A.: United States of Atlanta" ends a three-week residency at No. 1 for Coldplay 's "X&Y," which falls to No. 3.
Mariah Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi" falls two slots to No. 4, while rapper Cassidy's "I'm a Hustla" makes its debut at No. 5.
Funeral services for Luther Vandross , who died last week, are taking place Wednesday and Thursday (7/6-7) at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel in New York City, and public viewings are set from 4 to 9 p.m. each day. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday (7/8).
