Vince Gill maps out busy schedule for fall

Country music superstar Vince Gill kicks off a busy touring schedule-- extending through summer and into late fall of this year--when he takes the stage Saturday (7/17) at Cumming, GA's Lanierland Music Park.

The Grammy-winning vocalist had been taking a break from live performances while vacationing with his wife during most of June. Gill, who recently hosted a night at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, has not yet begun work on a follow-up to his most recent album, 2003's "The Next Big Thing," but hinted recently to Country Today magazine that he may soon return to the studio.

"I want to do it all," he told the magazine. "Touring a lot and releasing singles. I haven't slacked off."

Gill, who has nine solo albums to his credit, most recently reunited with his old bandmates from The Cherry Bombs, originally singer Rodney Crowell's backup band, to record an album. The rechristened Notorious Cherry Bombs debut, eponymous release hit stores last July.

The self-proclaimed "Ambassador of Country Music," Gill has a full slate of live performances on his hands during October and November, when he's scheduled to perform 19 times, culminating in a Nov. 20 appearance in Charleston, WV.
