Black Rebel Motorcycle Club revs up summer tour
Indie rockers Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are set to ramp up their live schedule in anticipation of their third album, "Howl," set for release in August.
B.R.M.C. began work on their latest album in June 2004, but took a break from recording to play a busy schedule of live shows last summer. The band (singer/guitarist Peter Hayes, singer/guitarist Robert Levon Been and drummer Nick Jago) resumed work on "Howl" in November 2004, after Jago--exhausted by the relentless touring schedule--had left the band, leaving the trio to carry on as a duo.
Adding to their uncertainty, the band was unsigned to a record label (they now record for RCA Records) while they recorded "Howl," and paid for the recording sessions out of their own pockets.
After the bulk of the album had been recorded, Jago returned to the fold, and the trio is set to resume touring again, starting off with a July 22 appearance at the Ho Hai Yan Festival in Taiwan.
After playing a couple more festivals in England, B.R.M.C. return to the United States for a Sept. 12 show at San Francisco's Great American Music Hall, setting the stage for a series of dates into the month of October.
