Briefly: Neil Young, Paul McCartney, Sonic Youth, Ashanti
Neil Young 's next studio album, "Prairie Wind," will be issued Sept. 20 as a CD/DVD package.
"The DVD shows us recording the whole record," Young wrote in a message on his website. "Every note you hear, you see!"
According to the site, Young is also readying "Archives Vol. 1," which will focus on previously unreleased material that he's recorded over the course of his career. No release date has been announced.
Paul McCartney 's new single, "Fine Line," debuts July 26 at the AOL Music website, a day before it debuts elsewhere, according to AOL.
The track is from McCartney's new album "Chaos and Creation in the Back Yard," due Sept. 13.
Sonic Youth 's "Goo" album, originally released in 1990, will be re-released Sept. 10 as an expanded, remastered, two-disc deluxe edition.
On the deluxe edition, the original album will be packaged with outtakes, b-sides, rehearsal recordings, demos, and "the audio from a tongue-in-cheek promotion-only interview flexi disc," according to a press release.
A federal grand jury in New York has found that singer Ashanti owes her first producer, Genard Parker, $630,000 for breach of contract, the Associated Press reported. The producer worked with Ashanti in 1996 and 1997.
Ashanti's lawyer said the verdict will be appealed.
