Pennywise gears up for new album, tour

Punk-rock revivalists Pennywise have begun to sketch out a brief tour in support of their upcoming album, "The Fuse," starting with an Aug. 8 gig at the ESPN X Games in Los Angeles.

The jaunt includes an Aug. 11 appearance on Catalina Island, off the Southern California coast. Tickets to the event cannot be purchased, and will be randomly given away to fans who purchase copies of "The Fuse," which is set to hit stores Aug. 9.

The eighth studio set for the Hermosa Beach, CA-based band, "The Fuse" represents a return to simplicity for Pennywise, according to a press release. "We made a conscious effort to just go in and plug in and play and not over-analyze things as much as we have in the past," said frontman Jim Lindberg.

"We made 'The Fuse' in half the time of the last record and having that mindset going into it made us put more energy into our performances and gave the album more immediacy."

Pennywise is currently scheduled to end its fall tour with a Sept. 29 appearance in Sayreville, NJ.
