Briefly: The Doors, Long John Baldry, Sarah McLachlan, John Herald
Drummer John Densmore won a permanent injunction last week preventing his former bandmates in The Doors from using that group's name in its tours.
Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger, who have been touring with vocalist Ian Astbury as Doors of the 21st Century, have been ordered to return all profits earned by the revamped group to the band's original partnership, which now includes late frontman Jim Morrison's parents and the parents of Morrison's common-law wife, Pamela Courson.
British blues great Long John Baldry --whose early '60s stage act featured Rod Stewart, Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts and Jimmy Page, among many other well known performers--died at a Vancouver hospital Thursday (7/21) of a chest infection. He was 64.
Sarah McLachlan 's second remix album, "Bloom," is due in stores Sept. 6. Among the contributors to the album's 10 tracks are Thievery Corporation, Junkie XL, Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am and Faithless' Rollo.
Nine of the album's songs originally appeared on McLachlan's albums. The 10th, "Just Like Me," is a previously unreleased collaboration with Darryl McDaniels, better known as Run-D.M.C. rapper D.M.C.
Bluegrass musician John Herald died July 19 at age 65, according to his official website. The cause of death was not given.
Herald, who had recorded with Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt, among many others, was best known as The Greenbriar Boys' singer and guitarist.
