Tim McGraw set for fundraiser, adds tour dates
Country crooner Tim McGraw will serve as honorary chairman for the Nov. 14 inaugural Ya Gotta Believe Gala in New York City, hosted by the Tug McGraw Foundation.
The event will benefit neuro-oncology quality of life research. McGraw's father, former Major League pitcher Tug McGraw, died in January 2004 after a long battle with brain cancer. The senior McGraw helped create the foundation that bears his name shortly before his death.
Bob Costas will serve as emcee of the event, and a full schedule of entertainment for the night will be announced at a later date. More information about the fundraiser can be found at the Tug McGraw Foundation's website.
In addition to the fundraiser appearance, McGraw has added new dates to his already busy summer itinerary. McGraw, who has been touring since May in support of his ninth album, last August's "Live Like You Were Dying," will finish up his current trek Oct. 8 at Los Angeles' famed Hollywood Bowl.
The title song from McGraw's latest album gathered wins for best single and best song of the year at the 40th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards show in May. McGraw was nominated for six awards for the evening, more than any other artist.
