Coheed and Cambria unleash tour, new album
Hard rocking New Yorkers Coheed and Cambria are gearing up for a short dash around the country in the wake of their upcoming album, set for a Sept. 20 release.
The band will kick off a 14-city swing Aug. 8 at New York's Summerstage event in Central Park as part of the Latin Alternative Music Conference. The bulk of the tour will commence with a Sept. 27 appearance in Atlantic City, NJ, and is currently scheduled to finish Oct. 16 in Los Angeles.
Fellow rockers The Blood Brothers, Dredg and Mewithoutyou will open all of Coheed and Cambria's currently scheduled headlining dates.
Coheed and Cambria's third full-length album, the cumbersomely titled "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV: Volume 1. From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness," is the band's first release for Columbia Records. It also represents the latest installment of the multi-volume, epic story the band has constructed around the three releases.
Beginning with their first album, 2002's "Second Stage Turbine Blade," the band has musically chronicled "the exploits of young Claudio Kilgannon, who is out to avenge the death of his three siblings and parents (Coheed and Cambria)," according to a press release. The band plans to eventually end the story with a "prequel" album, and has expressed an interest in one day committing the story to film.
Along with the album, the band has produced a 32-page comic book loosely based on its "Second Stage" album and distributed by lead singer Claudio Sanchez' graphic-arts company, Evil Ink. More information about the comic can be found at Coheed and Cambria's website.
